Samras, a Greek tragedy in Scotland?

Giorgios Samaras efforts in South Africa has earned him plenty of new fans, including Atletico Madrid coach Sanchez Flores.

Flores believes Samaras could complement Atletico forwards, Sergio Aguero and Uruguayan World Cup star Diego Forlan and offer something different up front.

New Celtic boss Neil Lennon is believed to want to move the former Manchester City forward on and Italian side Palermo have already expressed a prior interest in the player with Lennon being hopeful of bringing in around £1 million for the Greek in order to bolster his squad.

Gordon Strachan snapped up Samaras while he was on loan at Celtic from Manchester City for a fee of around £1.5 million in 2008.

But the big Greek’s Celtic future looks in doubt after a disappointing season with the SPL club.
