CLYDE V EVERTON XI 20 JULY 2010

3rd division Scottish football league part timers met an Everton XI at Broadwood last Tueday night.

Everton had just returned from Australia the day previous so this was always going to be a reserve team at best, but still on paper, a better team than Clyde currently are.

However on the night, the class difference was not apparent as the game swung from end to end constantly and could have ended with 10 goals.

Clyde took the lead early on when McCusker ran in behind the Everton defence from the right and fired his side into the lead.

Everton then had chance after chance to equalize but it took until the 38th minute before they scored as Ross Barkley pounced on a rebounded shot to score.

It only took 2 minutes though before the Scottish side took the lead again as some excellent play down the right hand side ended with Brian Dingwall scorching a shot past the helpless Everton keeper.

20 minutes into the second half Everton equalized again after some nice interchanging play that ended with sub Hope Apkan playing in James Vaughn who gave the Clyde goalie no chance.

There were a few more chances to win the game for both teams but it ended 2-2. A respectable scoreline for the Cumbernauld side and a good runout for their players.
